The University of Northern Iowa, founded in 1876, is a public, comprehensive institution. Students at UNI experience a remarkable amount of change, not only in their personal growth, but also in the new facilities, methods and technologies provided on campus. All of these changes focus on improved educational opportunities and services to students. What remains unchanged is UNI''s commitment to its students. Over 90% of classes have fewer than 50 students and the low student-to-faculty ratio coupled with the fact that the overwhelming majority of classes are taught by full-time professors make the education at UNI both challenging and personal.
