The University of Nevada at Las Vegas, founded in 1957, is a comprehensive, public institution. It is located in one of the fastest growing, most exciting areas of the country, in the beautiful Southwest desert. Its distinctive programs include a world-class College of Hotel Administration, with the Las Vegas Strip as its lab; the new William S. Boyd School of Law; a nationally recognized honors program; a community-involved environmental studies program; innovative desert environment programs; international education opportunities; accredited architecture, social work, and business schools; a new physical therapy program; and numerous research centers and interdisciplinary programs. A $50 million library, with a state-of-the-art robotic book retrieval system opened in 2000. Its 335-acre campus is located in Las Vegas.
