Madonna is a church-affiliated, liberal arts university. Founded as a women''s college in 1947, it adopted coeducation in 1972 and gained university status in 1991. Programs are offered through the Divisions of Business Administration and Computer Systems; Humanities; Nursing and Health; Science and Technology; and Social Sciences. Its 49-acre campus is located in Livonia, on the western edge of metropolitan Detroit.
