Fashion Institute of Technology, founded in 1944, is a public school of art and design and business and technology, receiving its principal financial support from the State and City of New York. As a specialized college, it prepares students for exciting careers in fashion and related professions and industries and provides leadership, research and other services to those professions and industries. As a college committed to career education with a broad cultural background, FIT offers not only essential professional preparations but also a full range of liberal arts courses, counseling and placement services, extracurricular activities and access to the cultural life of New York City.
