Eastern Michigan University, founded in 1849, is a public, multipurpose university. It delivers The Learning Edge, the valuable competencies students gain through real-world application and experimental learning. Programs are offered through the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Human Services and Technology. Eastern emphasizes both relevant coursework and out-of-class experiences, thus preparing students for both gainful employment and, if desired, postgraduate study. Its 460-acre campus is located in Ypsilanti, seven miles from Ann Arbor.
