Baylor University, founded in 1845, is a church-affiliated university. It provides a strong academic program in a Christian environment. Programs are offered through the College of Arts and Sciences; the Hankamer School of Business; the Schools of Education, Engineering and Computer Science, Music, and Nursing. It is centrally located in the state. Classes are generally small (average size 35-40), and professors maintain regular office hours. There is an opportunity for leadership development. Its 432-acre campus is located in a residential area of Waco. The university also operates a medical school in Dallas.
