Texas A&M at College Station, founded in 1876, is a public, comprehensive university. It is one of the few institutions holding triple federal designations as a land-, sea- and space-grant university. It offers extraordinary, high-quality academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels in over 100 fields. Its students have unique opportunities to develop leadership skills through its optional Corps of Cadets and 700 other organizations. Texas A&M is the nation's only university to rank among the top ten in four key categories: student body size (4th), enrollment of National Merit Scholars (8th), research expenditures (9th) and endowment (10th). Programs are offered through the Colleges of Agriculture, Architecture, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Geosciences, Liberal Arts, Medicine, Science and Veterinary Medicine.
