Northern Michigan University, founded in 1899, is a public, comprehensive university. It is located in scenic Marquette, Michigan. With over 200 student organizations, NMU offers something for every student. The university participates in IBM's ThinkPad University program, in which every student has his or her own notebook computer, software and access to the school network and the Internet. Its 320-acre campus is located on the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette.
