Ithaca College, founded in 1892, is a private college grounded in the liberal arts tradition but rich in its range of contemporary programs. Programs are offered through the Schools of Business; Communications; Health Sciences and Human Performance; Humanities and Sciences; and Music. Ithaca boasts nationally recognized programs in music, physical therapy, communications, natural sciences and research-oriented psychology. The curriculum blends liberal and professional studies, offering multi- and inter-disciplinary opportunities. Small class sizes and an experiential hands-on approach to learning reflect the college''s roots as a music conservatory. Skillful, sensitive teaching and an emphasis on personal contact with students characterize the faculty, who regularly engage undergraduates in their scholarly research. Its 757-acre campus is located in Ithaca, 50 miles south of Syracuse.
