Harvey Mudd College, founded in 1955, is a private college of engineering and science. It is one of the Claremont Colleges, a group of five undergraduate colleges and two graduate schools with adjoining campuses and shared facilities and services. Harvey Mudd is an undergraduate coeducational institution offering majors in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics and physics. HMC is distinctive in its strong emphasis on the humanities and the social sciences, which comprise one third of the undergraduate program.
